When celebs want to know which granola is great or whether the claims on that "healthy" cookie are for real, they look to Ashley Koff, RD, for her "AKA" seal of approval (and you can look to her website). A taste of her weekend plans:
-
Go back to the beach. "I'm really lucky to be in Venice with my labradoodle, Rerun," says Koff. "His favorite thing is the beach. So we get up at about 6AM, and head down there. It's an amazing way to start the weekend."
-
Get nutty. "My friends and I usually go over to Mar Vista Farmer's Market. One of my favorite treats is the lemon almonds--I've gotten most of my clients addicted to them." Grand View at Venice Blvd., MAP
-
Sashay to Axe. "On any given weekend, you'll find me at Axe," says Koff (that's "ah-SHAY," a Yoruba greeting). "I go there for the Farmer's Market plate. There's no way you can say you don't like vegetables after you taste what they do with them." 1009 Abbot Kinney, Venice, (310) 664-9787, MAP
-
Sweat it out. "I go to the infrared sauna at Tao Healing Arts Center: it's great for detoxification. If I've been flying or I'm worrying about catching something, I sit in the sauna for about 45 minutes." 2309 Main Street, Santa Monica, (310) 396-4877, MAP
-
Wax on. "There's a place called Get Waxed that does nontoxic manis and pedis," says Koff. "Owner Elisha Reverby makes wonderful, natural skin products." 300 Westminster Ave., Venice, (310) 396-2929, MAP
We approve.
