What's Cooking, Good Looking?
You'll be surprised by the edible beauty "treatments" in your own home.
Welcome to the Spa at Your Kitchen.
Lisa Drayer, M.A., R.D., expert beautritionist and author of The Beauty Diet, will be your hostess. Please feast your eyes (and skin and hair) on the prettifying menu:
For face:
• Water: skin is 70% water, so keeping it hydrated is top priority.
• Green tea: the polyphenols make this super-drink a potable sunscreen.
For nails:
• Spinach: it's rich in essential B vitamins, which are thought to help nails grow.
• Yogurt: the calcium and protein make nails healthy and strong.
For hair:
• Fish: hair is 97% protein, so fish feeds your locks and provides shine-enhancing omega-3s.
• Beans: some experts believe stomach build-up leads to hair problems, so flush your system with fiber (bonus, beans also have hair-healthy iron)
For smile:
• Cereal: fortified kinds are a great source of vitamin D, which helps you absorb tooth-strengthening calcium.
• Apples: they increase saliva, which is your best natural defense against cavities and decay.
