Fast Food Weigh-In
Are your "healthier" fast food picks hiding something?
If you see us ordering a burger with our eyes closed, here's why: As of July 1, every Cali fast food chain with more than 20 locations is required to reveal its calorie contents.
So how do our favorites stack up?
Big, fat shocks:
- Fatburger with no bun: 410 cals, 29g fat (Did you catch that? No bun!)
- Baja Fresh's Mahi Mahi quesadilla: 565 cals, 79 g fat (That's more than 100% of your daily fat value.)
- P.F. Chang's Sesame Chicken Lunch Bowl w/white rice: 1,025 cals, 25g fat (Yes, almost as many calories as a 9-course gourmet meal.)
Skinny surprises:
- Fatburger's Fat Salad Wedge with Chicken: 210 cals, 6g fat (We don't go to Fatburger for salad, either, but if friends wanna go and you can't avoid it, this is a smart choice.)
- Baja Fresh's Baja Chicken Taco: 210 cals, 5g fat (Two of them are still a healthy lunch.)
- P.F. Chang's Stir-Fried Eggplant: 288 cals, 9g fat (Be careful with this menu: many other choices on it appear to be low in calories...then turn out to have 4 servings per dish.)
Talk about slim pickin's.
