Vital Tested: Workoutdoors

Wish your workout could feel like a vacation? Grab this exercise getaway.
Things were looking bad for Wanda Workaday. She ate healthy (mostly), worked out regularly, but her stress level was sky-high. So a friend whisked her to off SOMA Get Fit Retreat, LA trainer Scott Crawford's fit-vacation creation in Santa Barbara:
- 11AM: Ride a retro Schwinn to the Santa Barbara Mission, through town and to the ocean. Now, this is spinning!
- 12:30PM: Swap the bike for a kayak! Cruise past seals, pelicans and cormorants--I am a rowing machine.
- 1:30PM: Break for an organic farm-to-table lunch. Mmm, slow food.
- 3:30PM: Hit the beach for stand-up paddle surfing with pro Chris Gutzeit. Arms, core, cardio--could go for hours.
- 5PM: Personal training, working thighs, buns and abs beneath the trees at Alice Keck Park. Who needs a gym?
- 6:30PM: Untie old muscle knots with a bodywork session. Aches and pains dissolve.
- 7PM: Do flow yoga under the stars. Reaching toward the sky never felt so freeing.
- 8PM: Have organic dinner in town. Can't wait to hit the farmer's market and go hiking tomorrow!
A day later, Wanda felt reinvigorated, and had even lost weight.
Plus some emotional baggage.
