San Francisco Treat
San Fran's favorite salad shop comes to Downtown.
Brick. Cement. Skyscrapers. Fast food. Isn't there anyplace to get a healthy lunch in downtown LA?
Psst--Mixt Greens is your place. The mega-hit salad café from San Fran has come to The City of Angels, and it's fast food like you've never seen.
CIA-trained chef Andrew Swallow (really) created the organic, farm-to-table lunch spot to prove "gourmet" doesn't have to mean fat-tay. Choose from Swallow's creations, or custom-design your own: everything is mixed-to-order in instants.
Stunning greens beckon from baskets while an eye-popping array of mix-ins tempts from behind the counter. We went with the Maui, a butter lettuce-based blend of avocado, tomatoes, mango, cucumber, macadamias and coriander-crusted seared ahi tuna (we had the perfectly-sweet mango citrus vinaigrette on the side).
Those outside the city can look forward to the Miracle Mile location, launching February 23 with a living wall of lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.
Told you it's farm-to-table.
