Vital Tested: Fit Philosophie

Send to a friend
Sophie Aaronson prepares a green juice.

Can't bear juicing, but want to cleanse? Read on.

We've done our share of juice cleanses. But yogi/cleansing queen Sophie Aaronson serves up something different: freshly-made, organic farmers' market-driven juices interspersed with organic, raw mini-meals. We tested The Philosophie Cleanse for one day:

  • 8:15AM: Started with Philosophie's two-ounce Detox Cleansing Herb Formula. Tasted fine.
  • 9AM: Drank "Berry Grounding," a big, amber glass medicine bottle of strawberries, spirulina, almond milk, flax, pecans, almond butter, banana, maca and agave: a rich, tasty smoothie with an algae kick.
  • 11AM: Drank "Bunny Love," a smaller bottle of carrots, pineapple, ginger, lemon and bee pollen. It was sweet and light.
  • 1PM: Chowed down on Seaweed Salad: greens, peppers, carrots, sprouts and pine nuts with a delicious miso dressing.
  • 4PM: Sipped "Afternoon Pick-Me-Up," a big bottle of green spirulina, coconut water, maca, yacon syrup and agave. Tasted "grassy" but totally drinkable.
  • 4:20PM: Ate Goji Trail Mix, a generous bag of nuts, seeds and soy nuts sprinkled with berries.
  • 7:30PM: Ate Butternut Squash Soup, a garlicky delight. Chased it with included "cleansing pills" before bedtime.

We were peckish after the soup, so we added our own big bowl of greens, peas and a tangerine. We learned later that it's fine to add similar foods to the plan if you're hungry--just hold back on sugar and fat.

That's the raw truth.
