Lean, Mean Health Machine
We got the scoop on this new, super-healthy cafe.
Certain foodies we respect say they'll never review a vegan restaurant. But even they privately bow to vegan mecca Real Food Daily. So we took notice when a friend tipped us off about Golden Mean Cafe, new home of RFD exec chef Britt Hawley. The deets:
It's cheaper than RFD. You'll get out for about 12 to 15 bucks.
It's seriously healthy. We're talking organic (that includes the coffee and tea) and no refined sugars. Our picks:
-Golden Mean Salad with mixed greens, edible flowers, baby beets, candied walnuts and lemon-shallot dressing
-Soup and Salad Combo with black bean soup and "When in Rome" salad (romaine hearts, red and yellow cherry tomatoes, pumpkin seeds and sweet potato cornbread croutons)
-Garden Vegetable Wrap with hummus of the day, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cucumber, carrots and bell peppers in a spinach tortilla
Even the air is purer. The walls are natural clay infused with quartz crystal, selenite, mica, gold and incense.
It feeds your head. Owner Aaron Glassman hosts free talks upstairs: pull up a floor pillow to learn some feng shui from expert Marie Elena Rigo, June 11 from 7-8:30PM (grab her tips for attracting romance here).
Sounds like a happy medium.
