Raindrops and Roses

Send to a friend
A rainbow of raindrops might just heal you.

June gloom? Here's some "rain" you might really like.

Could a few scented droplets change your life? Katherine Fleming and Judith Martin can help you find out. As you lie on your belly, the women will "rain" therapeutic blends of essential oils along your spine, gently brushing them into your skin, with "raindrop therapy."

And then, just maybe, the clouds will part.

Breathing in and absorbing the natural oils (marjoram, basil, balsam fir, cypress and more muscle-relaxing choices), Fleming explains, can stimulate the release of old memories, including those that may have been causing pain. One client who was injured at war and suffering 15 years of chronic pain couldn't remember the time between his accident and his arrival at the hospital. After two raindrop treatments, which includes a bit of reflexology, the memory returned--and his pain lifted.

According to some practitioners, the oils, which are said to have antibacterial properties, may also inhibit viruses or bacteria that lie dormant along the spine and that would otherwise misalign it. Are we being hosed? We frankly don't mind getting caught in this rain to find out. It's soft, relaxing, and leaves us smelling fragrant.

That could brighten any day.
